Tankardstown Copper mine

Another favourite place to visit and photograph of mine is Tankardstown copper mine on the Copper Coast. On a sunny day it is amazing. The views along the Waterford coast are breathtaking. I keep telling my husband that this is why I love watching Poldark so much as the scenery in it reminds me so much of The Copper Coast!

One can walk in around the site but it is not safe to access inside the buildings or shafts.

But it is views like below that catch your eye. And, if you look the other way there are breathtaking views of the Comeragh mountains.

View out to sea towards Ring and Helvic

Lots more information about the site is available in Bonmahon in the Copper Coast Geopark centre.

The chimney still stands tall

...And further along at Annestown strand...
I think this lad has seen better days!
