Carey's Castle

Today we visited Carey's Castle.  I only realised about two months ago that this place existed thanks to one of my work colleagues who lives in Clonmel. She and her family love it there and so did mine today!

Carey's Castle

It is located off the Dungarvan road, you just take the first left after you turn onto it and then veer right and follow the road up. You cannot miss it once you turn onto the road as it is clearly signed! Once you park just follow the pathway along through the woods and you will find it about 500m along.

It's a great place to go exploring with children.

There are loads of woodland paths to explore, giant trees and a lovely flowing river that you can safely get close to. Just watch out for people on dirt bikes.

exploring, climbing across the entrance arch!
inside the round tower

I don't think I have ever seen somewhere so green. Everywhere you look there is a different shade but, everything is green!

the other side of the tower

a tiny segment of the biggest chestnut tree I have ever seen!

Moss moss everywhere

We will definitely visit again over the summer, with the dog and maybe a picnic and swimmers!
